Aaron Fitzgerald Evan was born March 24, 1945 in El Dorado, Arkansas to the Reverend Alonzo Evans and Hattie Mae Voice Evans. He was the eldest of nine children.

Aaron received his education from Carver Elementary School and Washington High School of El Dorado. Later on after settling in Dallas he attended El Centro College

Upon profession of his faith, he was baptized at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado, Arkansas. In Dallas, he united with the Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. A. V. Voice (his uncle). There he received his ordination and license into the ministry. He continued his work in the ministry at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Fort Worth.

Aaron studied his bible steadfastly. Because of this the family gave him the nickname, “Thelo” (“theologian”). Aaron loved to write poetry and became a good writer of poems.

Aaron entered the U. S. Army where he served his country in the Vietnam War. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Marksman (rifle), and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on September 6, 1967.

Those left to cherish his memories are: 3 brothers, Tommy Evans (Ida) of Houston, Texas, Bishop Samuel F. Evans (Dorothy) of Paris, Texas, and David Evans (Maxine) of DeSoto, Texas; 5 sisters, Vivian Ervin of Sanford, Florida, Erma Evans-Ledbetter and Eva Perkins (Roy) of Dallas, Texas, DeWanda Thomas of Rockford, Illinois, Yonnier Henigan of El Dorado, Arkansas, and a host of relatives and friends.
