Sister Annie Ruth Smallwood was born January 7, 1933, to the parents of Lawrence and Hassie Matthews in Greenville, Texas. Annie was married to Reubin Whytus and bore 3 children. She later married A. D. Smallwood and bore 5 children.

Ms. Annie graduated from St. Paul High School, Neylandville, Texas. She accepted Christ into her life at a very early age. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Greenville, Texas. Annie was a member of the Food Ministry Committee, specializing “hot water cornbread,” making sure that there was plenty for all to enjoy.

Ms. Annie was retired but in her early days, she worked for Dr. John W. Morris: ophthalmologist, and one of her best friends, Mary Lou Morris. She also worked at Texas Aluminum Plant, Rockwall, Texas.

Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Hassie Matthews; Gary Bruce Davis; 2 sons, Mark Lynn Smallwood and David Earl Smallwood; her first grandchild, Bernard Parson; grand dog, Casey Bernard Barrett; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Sister Annie Smallwood’s memories will be cherished by her son, Rickey Whytus (Estella), and 7 daughters: Peggie Lowe (Willis), Rubye Summerfield (Robert), Anna Willis, Tessie Fleming (Charles), Zina Smallwood (Earl), Shaun Wilson, and Patricia McGilbra (Tom); 2 sisters, Helen Johnson (Annie’s twin sister) and Frankie Lawton; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Smallwood; 3 special sons, John W. Morris, Jr., Tommy Morris, and Gerry Morris; 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, with a host of family and friends.
