Christopher Eugene Bishop was born October 24, 1987 to the parents of Barbara Jean Williams and George Edward Bishop in McKinney, Texas. He was the youngest of five older siblings. As a young boy, Christopher was always getting into something; and had it bad for just wandering off for no reason; curious I guess you could say. But thank God for his Grace and Mercy. At the age of five, Christopher was almost the victim of an attempted kidnapping. But once again, God had his Angels on watch at the right place and the right time.
Christopher attended Frisco Independent School District as was loved by all of his teachers. I guess you could say that he definitely was no “problem child.” He grew up in the Frisco community where he was very well known and loved by many, many friends. To know him, you had to love him, because Christopher met no strangers and was kind and friendly to anyone he’d met. He had a personality that was genuine and a smile that could light up any room. No matter where or when you’d see him, he would always have that BIG SMILE on his face; especially if he was spending time with his son Jaylen “aka…PHAT PHAT,” or if he had a pair of drum sticks in his hand. Even on his worst day, Jaylen always seemed to somehow make it all better. That was his baby and he didn’t mind letting you know!
Along with his mother and siblings, Christopher grew up in the church and attended Power House Church of God in Christ in Celina, Texas, where he loved stomping his feet and clapping his hands to gospel music. He used to love singing with Pastor Majors and imitated him by picking his own “fake guitar.” Yes, he would hold out his left hand, place his right hand at his stomach and go to work. After a while, I guess he eventually got tired of picking his fake guitar and wanted something more real and challenging. Christopher finally found his passion for beating the drums. He’d watch his cousin Curtis Jr. on the drums and decided this was a little more fun and easier. Oh yes, if you gave him a pair of sticks, you would best believe that he would definitely give you a beat…or two. Christopher absolutely loved beating the drums. As he got older and started to beat for the church, he became even more anointed because he was doing just what he loved to do the most. Before his illness, you could find him every Sunday at Hamilton Chapel Baptist Church in Frisco, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Thomas. And let me tell you, he loved him some Pastor Thomas.
Christopher would intentionally carry his sticks in his pocket at all times; even to a visiting church. If you asked him why he had his sticks in his pocket, he’d just smile and say, “Somebody may need me to beat!” One thing for sure, if there a drum line in heaven, you can best believe that Christopher’s got his sticks in hand and ready to “Drop a beat…or two!
