Cora Lee Mayes was born May 19, 1955 to the parents of Clarence C and Carrie Mayes in Dallas, Texas. Cora was the only child and was loved by many.  Cora accepted Christ at early age. Cora received her education at St. Anthony, Lincoln High School, and El Centro College.

Cora worked as a Communications Operator for SWB and Verizon for over 15 years and she retired from Verizon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence C. Mayes.

She leaves to cherish her memory; Lifetime Companion McArthur Scales, two daughters Debraca (Reginald) Coleman, Arian Mayes; six grandchildren Reginald, Taj, Heaven, Taylor, Tatum, and Cameron; Her Mother Carrie Honeycutt Mayes; and host of cousins and friends.
