Life Reflection

Devin Alan Mokler, age 19, passed away unexpectedly in Georgia on December 29, 2019. He was born on June 20, 2000 at 5:53 p.m. in Austin, Texas to his loving mother Sara Albarez. We ask that you open your hearts and offer compassion without judgement for those who are suffering tremendously from such a traumatic loss.

He demonstrated a strong desire during his high school years to join the United States Army and was a passionate participant of the United States Army Junior Reserves Officers Training Corp (JROTC) of the Wolf Battalion for three years. It did not take long for Devin to be promoted to NCO officer at the commissioning ceremony held in Plano, TX. His dream was to be a military man, following a long time of military veterans within his family.

Devin was such a charismatic person in the most positive possible way! His charismatic, cheerful personality alone allowed others to mirror his confidence while never being boastful. He had a strong leadership style, and an ability to get along with anyone. Devin always put a smile on everyone’s faces and encouraged them to see the best in other people, situations and events.

In his spare time, Devin loved to draw and paint. He was a very creative person who expressed himself through the art that he loved to share with others. He was a daydreamer, not unlike many others who are considered creative. He could envision the possibilities and wonders of the world, yet remained completely grounded in reality. He spoke to others through his ability to play the piano. Devin was a self-taught pianist from the age of 5, and developed into an exceptional piano player by the time he reached adulthood.

Devin even created a song for his mother called, “serenity against the storm” for which he was very proud of.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Rudy Albarez, and his aunt, Tia Kimberly Gahlinger, Irene Pilchiek (Great-grandmother), Jacquline Gartener (Great-grandmother), Helen George (Grandmother), Gene Miller (Great-grandfather.

Devin leaves to cherish his memory to Sara Albarez (mother), Raul Albarez (father), Justice Albarez (brother), Kary Albarez (brother), Ian Mokler (brother) and Amber Duerksen.

He is survived by his great grandparents Raymond and Pat Pilchiek. His grandparents, Tamera Miller, James and Donna Pilchiek Sr. and Julia and Richard Lein, His great aunts and uncles, Patti and David Heath, Teri and Todd Turner, Gene Miller and Lisa Thibodeau, Alice and Freddy Ybanez, Vera Villa, Ruben Albarez and Jr. Albarez. His aunt and uncles James and Nichole Pilchiek Jr., Felicia and JR Rodriguez , Tia Emily Riley and Stella O’Finger. His cousins, Megan and Kaity Easterly, Mathew Rodriquez, Ava Pilchiek, Tonya and Todd Turner, Zach and Dakoda Heath, Alessa, Zariah, Lyla Rae Arney, Emily O’Finger
