Fred Jake McDonald, Jr (Chubby) was born April 22, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to the late Fred Jake McDonald, Sr. and Dozie Lene Harrison-McDonald. He attended and graduated from L. G. Pinkston High School. In 1976, joined the United States Army. After serving two years, he joined the United States Navy, serving 1978-1985.

Fred accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Elder Edward Calloway at Light House Church of God in Christ.

His parents Fred and Dozie McDonald, Sr.; two brothers, James C. Harrison and Carl J. McDonald; and two nephews, Kendrick McDonald, Jeffrey McDonald, preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his lovely memories: daughter, Shawanna (Zavier) Stokes; three granddaughters, Zaria, Aniya, Symone Stokes, all of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Fred G. McDonald of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Paula (Fred) Smith of DeSoto, Texas, Edna McDonald of Nashville, Tennessee, Cynthia G. McDonald of Dallas, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
