The Life Reflections of
Geraldine Lacy – Jordan
If we live, we live for the LORD; and if we die, we die for the LORD. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the LORD.-Romans 14:8
Geraldine Lacy Jordan, who was affectionately called Gerrie, was born in Waskom, Texas on May 22, 1940. After 80 years of God sharing her with us, she was promoted to Glory for eternal rest with her Heavenly Father on Monday, September 7, 2020.
Gerrie was the 5th of 11 children born to the union of John and Rutha Mae Lacy. She accepted Christ at an early age at Lawrence & Marder Church of Christ. The church later transitioned to Marsalis Ave. Church of Christ under the leadership of Bro. Grover Washington. Geraldine continued her membership at Marsalis Ave. until death. Geraldine graduated from James Madison High School in Dallas, Tx and furthered her education at Southwest Christian College where she met Kenneth Jordan whom she married in 1960.
This union was blessed with 2 daughters, Quinnitta and Sherrell. Gerrie was a dedicated mother who cherished her children and worked hard to provide for them.
Geraldine started her career at Simmons Mattress Company and worked there for over 35 years until her retirement. While working at Simmons, Gerrie joined the Steelworkers Union where she became Secretary of the Dallas Chapter.
Gerrie loved her family, especially her mother Rutha Mae. After her retirement Gerrie took pride in working together with her siblings to take care of her mother until her passing. She was a vital part in the village that helped raise her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook for everyone, listen to music and watch her grandchildren grow up.
Geraldine was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by her father; John D. Lacy, her mother; Rutha Mae Lacy, her sister; Juanita Garrett, her brothers; Wesley Lacy, James Lacy and Lester Lacy.
Our beloved Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her daughters; Quinnitta Broner (Alfonza), Sherrell Peoples (Fred), grandchildren; DeLeceishia Thomas (Bakari), LaChrisite Hawkins (Ahmad), Shelby Jordan, LaQuinta Broner, Alfonza Broner Jr., Desiree Clement (Will), Brandon Peoples, sisters; Johnetta Walker, Shirley Mapps, Virginia Paul, Doris Coit, brothers; Isaac Lacy, Chester Lacy, 14 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
To be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord. It doesn’tmatter if you called her Momma, Nana, Granny, Sister, Auntie or friend Geraldine’s love, legacy and spirit will forever live in our hearts.
