The journey of the entrance of Gertrude began on January 20, 1930 in a real small town named Karnack, Texas.  At first glimpse of the beautiful baby girl Gertrude  Gertrude was born to Dessie Williams and Louis C. Crump Sr., they were amazed and astonished at the veil that covered her face and body. It was apparent that she was a special and gifted child from the Lord.  In Gertrude’s formal years, she received her education at George Washington Carver School in Karnack, Texas where she excelled in every class and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class.  Gertrude’s faith in God was strong and began at an early age when she united with the Elizabeth Baptist Church in Karnack, Texas where she was a Sunday School Scholar and a devoted choir member. Down through the years Gertrude was a member of Zion Hill under the leadership of Pastor J.W. Batty, New Waverly Baptist Church, Pastor W.C. Clark, Spiritual Deliverance Church and Whites Temple Church of God in Christ, Pastor Joe B. White.  At the young age of 15, she met and married Bob Jenkins of Shreveport, LA. To this union one daughter was born; Bertha Jenkins. In order to provide for her daughter, she made a bold move at the age of 16 and repositioned herself in Galveston, Texas leaving her young daughter in the loving care of her grandparents so that her baby girl would have a stable and safe environment. While in Galveston, Texas, Gertrude was employed with John Sealy Hospital as a dietician and Nutrional aide. To advance her skills and earn more money, she planted herself in Dallas, Texas in 1952 and sent for her daughter Bertha to join her in Dallas, Texas. As time progressed, she met Andrew Thompson Sr and they were later married. To this union three children were born, Andrew Jr., Linda and Gerald.  Gertrude was a devoted, loving and hard-working mother that cared for her husband and children. Her career included: private and rehab care as a cook and medication aide. As the years progressed, Gertrude moved forward to private duty sitting with children and adults until her health began to decline gradually.

During the last chapter of her life, she was a devoted member and church mother at the Compassionate Inspirational Ministries under the leadership of Bishop T.L. and Pastor Linda Kelton. Gertrude fought a long and good fight as she was in transition from this life to paradise, she was cared for by Las Brisas Rehabilitation and Wellness uites both located in Irving, Texas. During her last hours, Gertrude was placed in hospice care with Vitas Hospital of Dallas, Texas.   Gertrude is preceded in death by: her father; Louis C.
