Gwendolyn Denise Polk was born December 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Algie Lee Polk Jr. and Virginia Polk. She was the eldest of four children. She attended school in the Dallas Independent School District.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. B. Clay. In later years, she rededicated herself to the same church which was currently under the direction of Rev. Paul E. Walker. Anyone who knew Gwendolyn would always say she kept a smile on her face. Her infectious character made it easy for people to be around her.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her (3) children Phillip Polk, Antanesha Polk, and Alicia Polk; both parents, Algie Lee Jr and Virginia Crowder; (3) siblings, Carla Walton-Crear, Patricia Polk, and Michael Polk; (4) grandchildren, Brock, Kennedi, Asia, and Ava; as well as (4) Uncles, (2) Aunts and a host of relatives and friends.
