HELEN MARIE MAYFIELD was born on November 24, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Tony Frazier and Martha Kelly Lipscomb. She was raised in a loving family, the oldest daughter of seven children. She was a 1944 graduate of J.M. Terrell High School in Ft. Worth, Texas.
She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of eight uniting with Evan Springs Baptist Church in Neches, Texas. She was also a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.
Her employment record spans over 35 years of public service as a Food Service Worker for Dallas Independent School District and a Nurse’s Aide at Baylor Hospital.
Her marriage to the late John Hinton, Sr. blessed her with three sons: John Hinton Jr., Lavelle and Toney. In 1951, she and Will T. Mayfield were wed. This union was blessed with four children: Timothy, Kathryn, Noel and Paulette Mayfield.
Sis. Mayfield and her family united with the Mount Moriah Church family under the late Pastor B.F. Briggs. She served this congregation faithfully and with a humble spirit and sincere love for all. She was the Chairlady of the Mother’s Ministry, soloist in the Sanctuary Choir, VBS worker, member of the Mission, member of the Huverston Fisher Sunday School class and attended services regularly until her health failed. She was a loving mother and grandmother who made sure that her family was cared for and introduced to Jesus Christ.
