James was Born on January 2nd, 1952, to John Regan & Lurline Cotton Bennett in Henderson, TX. After High School he joined the Marines and served his country with honor for 3 years ending with a rank of Lance Corporal. He accepted Christ at a later age under the Pastoral leadership of Pastor Ronald Richardson of the New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church. James had love and compassion for dogs and therefore became a breeder. He started by breeding Dobermans and later German Rottweilers. He was also a master welder, and his work can be seen throughout the city at many businesses, churches, apartments, and homes. James passed peacefully in his home on February 9th, 2023, at the age of 71 . James was proceeded in death by his wife Marva Alexander–Bennett, his parents, John Reagan & Lurline Bennett, his brother Tony Bennett, and 1 great grandson Ureca Zachery III James leaves to cherish his memories, his 4 children Demitra Bennett Jones, Raymonn McCullar, Latasha Phifer and Antorio Tennyson. 3 sisters, Teresa Bennett - Reynolds, Loresia McDonald, and Delesa McCallister; 12 grandchildren: Tujunia, Xzavier, and A‘Mya Jones; Nanique & Jaylyn McCullar; Antonise Calloway, Dominic &Taniyah Ingram; Shanaya, Antoria, and Shatorio Tennyson, Antorio Wilson. 6 great -grands King, & Kash Jones, Terry Murray; LaKeith Patterson, Ayzaria & Alaya Wade; 1 Aunt Carolyn Matthews, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
