James C. Scroggins, Jr.  was born May 21, 1971 in Dallas, Texas to James C. Sr and Edna Scroggins.

God lead James’ mother to Full Gospel Holy Temple, in Dallas, when he was 3 years old.  Under the teachings of Apostle Lobias Murray and Dr. Shirley Murray, James and his entire family were blessed to know the Lord, the word and how to live a holy life.  There were many Godly influences that helped to shape James into the child of God and man that he was.  To name a few:  Apostle Lobias Murray (As a child, James thought he was his grandfather and he loved talking to him), Dr. Shirley Murray, Elder Herman L. Murray, Sr. (James loved how he would teach the word), Evangelist Shirley Owens, Sister Cherry Houston, Bishop Cannon, Sr., and Elder Michael T. Smith.  James loved Sunday school, children’s church and brotherhood meetings.

James graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School in 1989 and studied at Grambling University as a Mass Communications major.  While attending Summer college classes and performing volunteer work, he met the love of his life, Asha.  From that day, James and Asha were inseparable and married a little while after.  James and Asha accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior in 1996.

Before his Illness, James worked as a Sports Writer and Editor with The Ellis County Chronicle News Paper.  He thoroughly enjoyed working with the youth as a Detention Officer with the Henry Wade Juvenile Justice Center in Dallas, Texas.  Coaching football for two different teams within the Pop Warner Football League (Salvation Army Pleasant Grove Trojans and Pleasant Grove Broncos) provided another opportunity for James to counsel and encourage many children.  He was very passionate about helping the youth to always do the right thing and that despite the bad things that may happen, that there is always more to be happy about.

James loved his family dearly.  His sons were his pride and his joy.  His granddaughter was his little princess.  Dr. James was one nickname given to him because he would always know what to do for just about any problem or ailment that he was asked about.  He always knew what to do and was the go to person in the family.  James enjoyed writing, storytelling, cooking and spending time with his family. He never wanted to let others know when he was hurting and not feeling well.  It was always his mission to make others understand that despite the circumstance, someone may be in a worse situation, for God has everything under control and that through it all, we must give God all the praise and all the honor.  He also strongly believed that the

struggles help to build faith and trust in God.  When he would feel himself getting down, he would pray and read one of his favorite books of the Bible, Job.

He leaves to cherish his most joyful memories, his beautiful wife, Asha, three sons:  Andrew, James III, and Isaiah; one granddaughter:  Azanai; mother and father:  James (JC) and Edna Scroggins; Siblings:  Lisa Smith and twin brother, Gene Scroggins (Tonda) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Yolanda Scroggins.
