Reflections of the life of Jerry Michael Perry
Jerry Michael Perry was born to Samuel Hill and Minnie May “Duchess” Perry on November 22, 1947 in New Boston, Texas, both parents preceded him in death. He was the oldest child of 2 children by his mother. His brother, Samuel Perry, resides in New Boston, Texas.
After the death of his mother, he and his brother began living with their maternal grandmother, Mertle Perry, who preceded him in death. Jerry graduated from high school and joined the Army where he served proudly and fought in the Vietnam war as a medic, later receiving accolades for his sharp shooting talents.
After honorably discharging from the Army, Jerry obtained employment with the government at the Red River Army Depot. In 1974, Jerry married Carolyn Spiller and they had two children together. He and his family later transferred to Michigan where he worked in Logistics at TACOM, for the Department of Defense. In 1985 – 1988, Jerry continued his work in Augsburg and Frankfurt Germany. After his term ended in Germany, Jerry resided in Warren Michigan for several years where he retired from the Department of Defense. He later moved to Dallas, Texas and then to Killeen, TX. In 2004, Jerry moved to Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana and resided there until 2019.
He leaves to cherish his memory 4 children: Roddrick Perry, Texarkana, Texas, Recherael Harrison (Jarmel Harrison), Killeen, TX, Taminikia “Duchess” Holmes (Jarvis Holmes), Cedar Hill, TX, and Julius Perry, Bossier City, Louisiana. 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Although we are going to miss his smile, charm, humor, sayings, and his commitment to his family and friends; we can all have peace in knowing to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
