Jimmy Lee Johnson was born November 30, 1949 in Gilmer Texas to Johnny Johnson and Martha Mae Moore-Johnson. He lived on a farm with his grandparents Alfred Thomas and Mattie Mae Moore. He attended Bruce High School in Gilmer, TX and was an astounding football player. He also ran track and played baseball. After high school, he went into the Army. After being honorably discharge from duty he worked at Republic Bank which is now Bank of America. He started out in the parking garage and through hardwork; he worked his way to security administrator until his retirement.

Jimmy Lee grew up in the church and was a God-fearing man. He was a member at Morning Star Baptist Church where he was an Ordained Deacon, sung in the Male Chorus and participated in all areas of the church. He also was a member of Allen Chapel Baptist Church. His favorite song was Tomorrow by the Winans.

Everyone that knew Jimmy Lee Johnson loved him. He had a very generous heart, and he absolutely loved his children.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother Johnny and Martha Johnson, brother, Willie Curry Jr., sister Hattie Mae Skinner, brother -in-law Chester Skinner, daughter Darlene Flowers (6/4/72-1980)

He leaves to cherish his lasting memories his loving and devoted wife Degie Johnson of 21 years, daughter Catosha, son Christopher Leftridge (Renee), daughter Felicia Harris (Jermel), son Donnie Copeland Jr., daughter Amry Alexander (Dexter), daughter Gabriel Johnson (Kenneth), son Jeremy Johnson, sister Madelone Johnson, brother Johnny Johnson, grandchildren, Cameron Copeland, Johnathan Johnson and Zion Alexander and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
