Life Reflections
Joe Leaks was born December 14, 1935 to the union of Avo Leaks Sr. and Annie Mae Armstrong in Ennis, Texas.
Joe received his formal education in the Ennis, Texas School system at George Washington Carver.
Joe accepted Christ as his Savior at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R.C. Crane at an early age. Joe then was united with Calvary First Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas where he served on the deacon board until his health failed.
Joe was united in Holy matrimony with Helen Doris Overstreet in 1955 in Ennis, Texas. Their union was blessed with 2 children. Later he was united with Leta Leaks.
Joe was employed by Ennis Business Form, Flintco/ Certainteed a supply supervisor for 35 years until retirement.
In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, watching football, traveling and debating politics.
He was a volunteer fireman with the Ennis Fire Department for 30 Years.
Joe Leaks transitioned on August 18,2020. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 plus years; Leta Ray Leaks, his parents; Avo and Annie Mae Leaks, sister; Clara Mae Hackney, brothers; Avo Leaks Jr., Carl Edward Leaks. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters; Phyllis Leaks, Chandra Adkins, step daughters; Rita Roark, Jackie McHenry, Cindy Norton, brothers; James Leaks, Roy Granville, grandsons; Ghailon Leaks, Jarvis Leaks, Thomas Adkins, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends; Irene Sheffield and the late John Sheffield.
