Life Reflection of Joe Willie Nathan
Joe Willie Nathan was born February 10, 1928 in Fort Worth, Texas to the parentage of Gary and Jessie Nathan. Both preceded him in death.
He was educated in the Forth Worth school system, graduating from Lincoln High School. He served in and retired from the U.S. Army. He worked at several companies as a security guard and at AARP where he retired and where he had worked in the maintenance department.
Joe accepted Christ at an early age in Fort Worth, Texas. When he moved to Dallas, he joined Full Gospel Faith Assembly Church located in Dallas.
Joe met and married his sweetheart, Shirley Wofford in 1976. They enjoyed a wonderful union of love, fulfillment, and support for each other. Their union was further enhanced by the blessing of the adoption of Shirley’s four children. He had five other children by previous marriages. One daughter, Carolyn, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Mattie Pearl Nathan, John D. Nathan, G. B. Nathan, Cordia Jean Brewer, and Larry Nathan Sr.
Joe departed this life on Friday, May 10, 2019 after a period of illness. He accepted the trials and challenges of his sickness with faith and always with a smile and a kind word of wisdom. When asked how he was doing, he always responded “I’m fine”.
Left to cherish his memories and celebrate his homegoing: his wife of 48 years, Shirley Nathan, his children; Jo Pearl, Vanessa, Felecia, Deshondra, Belinda, Marlon, Chris and Joelin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends
