Marcus was born November 15, 1980 in Dallas, Texas, the son of Helen Marie Sheffield and Jimmy Lee Sheffield. He departed this life on November 26, 2016 at Parkland Health and Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Marcus attended South Oakland Cliff High School and was employed at J.C. Penny  warehouse.

Three aunts, Ella Mae Walker of Louisville, KY, Annie Hines of Dallas, TX, Janie Tillman of Shreveport, LA, and three uncles, Adolph Sheffield of Kilgore, TX, James Earl Brager of Kilgore, TX and James Edward Spikes of Lexington, KY, all precede him in death.

He leaves to cherish his parents, two sisters, LaTonya and Shani, a brother, Jimmy, two nieces, K’Lundra and Brittany, two nephews, Christopher and Grant all of Dallas, TX, an uncle Solon Sheffield of Kilgore, TX and two aunts Earnestine Spikes of Louisville, KY and Mattie Johnson of Dallas, TX, special friend Meisha Young and a host of other relatives and friends.
