Mary Joe Lewis-Daniels was born September 28, 1958 to the parentage of Leonard Lewis, Sr. and Gladys Martinez Lewis in Longview, Texas. Mary was the youngest of twelve children.

Later in life Mary moved to Dallas, Texas and married Obie Daniels May 5, 1979. They were blessed with 17 wonderful years. Mary had one daughter and one grandson.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Obie Daniels; step-son, Kendrick Daniels; sisters, Lenora Taylor and Betty Joe Bryant; brothers, R. T. Thomas, Robert Lewis, MacArthur Lewis, Leonard Lewis, Jr., Charles Lewis, and Alton Lewis, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Nakisha Butler (Corey) of Mesquite, Texas; a loving grandson, Kingston Thomas of Mesquite, Texas; one sister, Louise Sirls of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Roosevelt Brooks (Arlinda) of Plano, Texas, Johnny Lewis of Inez, Kentucky; as well as a host nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
