Elder Paul Franklin Benson was peaceably called to be with the Lord December 7, 2016 in his home.

He was born the third son of 10 children to Elder Frank Dave Benson (deceased) and Annie Mae Benson on October 27, 1955 in Memphis, TN.  He graduated from Westwood High School in 1972.  He was a member/trumpeter in the Marching Band.  He was awarded a certificate and received many bars as a Cadet in the Military Training Reserve Officers Training Corps and received First Prize for his artwork in school.  He was skilled in using his hands to make things.

He received the baptism of the holy spirit at the Riverview COGIC after high school. He later joined the Greater Harvest COGIC pastored by Elder Lee Ward who provided the admission to the Charles Harrison Mason Bible College where he received a bachelor and was ordained in 1986.

Elder Paul Benson married his wife Lucinda Cole June 28, 1986 and left roots in Memphis TN and moved to Dallas, TX.   This union bore two children, Enrico and Lorynda Benson.  Paul was employed several years by Mary Kay Cosmetics. He personally visited May Kay in her home and held prayer and received several awards from the company.  He later became a self-employed OSHA certified entrepreneur and worked as a substitute teacher with the Desoto ISD where he inspired many young lives and recently awarded Substitute Teacher of The Year. He has worked as a volunteer with the Desoto Police Association Alumni. Elder Paul Benson worshiped as a member of the Saintsville Church and enjoyed playing his trumpet.  His ministry of encouraging and helping anyone in need has left behind a host of close family and friends near and far.  He truly loved people and never met a stranger.  He made it his mission to visit the sick and shut-in as well as showed himself as a neighborhood friend.

He will be greatly missed.  He leaves to mourn his passing- his wife, Lucinda, son Enrico and daughter Lorynda, his mother Annie Mae Benson of Memphis, children Johnican Lias and Paul J. Benson of Memphis;  brothers and sisters- David Benson (Sarong) of Tacoma WA, Ressie Tonette Skinner (Stephen) of Seattle WA, Patricia Benson of Seattle WA, Frank Benson (Dorothy) of Memphis, Victor Benson (Jaclyn) of Memphis, Carl Benson (Tammy) of Dallas, Barbara Allen (Joe) of Mississippi, Terry Benson of Memphis, and Deborah Benson of Memphis; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
