 Roosevelt Brewer, Jr was born on January 17, 1971 to the union of Roosevelt Brewer Sr. and Josephine Hampton-Brewer in Corsicana, Texas.

Education:

Roosevelt received his formal education at Blooming Groove ISD, Blooming Grove, Texas and Lancaster ISD, Lancaster, Texas.

Roosevelt accepted Christ as his Savior at Mt Mariah Baptist Church at an early age and was united with Mt Mariah Church until age 15. He united with Abraham Missionary Baptist Church as a teenager where he served as a part of the youth choir. Roosevelt united with St. Luke “Community” U.M.C. in 2018.

Professional/Vocation:

He was employed by West Rock formerly Rock-Tenn Company. Roosevelt started as a Utility Worker, and advanced to Boiler Operator, as the first “African American” in Dallas. Upon leaving Boiler Operation. Roosevelt worked hard as Class C, B maintenance and progressively achieved the highest rank of Class A maintenance worker. Roosevelt served faithfully for 24 years at West Rock until his retirement, due to health reasons.

Personal/Hobbies:

In his early years he loved to go fishing and ride in the “big rig” with Pops. During his leisure time Roosevelt enjoyed rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and Raiders during football season. He was also an avid movie watcher. Roosevelt loved sport cars and fancy trucks. On his days off “Buddy” could be found hitting the gas in his fast & furious automobiles. It’s alleged on one particular occasion, that he was driving so fast in his Corvette that Dallas Police Department used the aid of a helicopter to pursue – now that’s smoking! He loved to make people laugh. His nickname at work was “Smiley”.

Membership and Organizations:

West Rock Union, where he was instrumental in making changes happen for the benefit of the work environment.

Date of Death and Preceding Deaths:

Roosevelt Brewer, Jr departed this life on March 14, 2020. He was proceeded in death by Roosevelt Brewer Sr (Father), FattieHampton (Grandfather), Ofra Hampton (Grandmother) Lula Nealy (Grandmother), Truly Brewer (Grandfather)

Survivors:

He leaves to cherish his memory: Devoted Mother – Josephine Smith (Sammie), Beloved Pops – Zelmo Davis (Arlene), Beloved Sons Tavius and Demarcus Brewer, mother of his beloved son’s, Demetra Mansfield , Cherished Sister Rhonda Danage (William), Beloved Brother Sidney Davis (Shatika), Beloved Brother Samond Davis, Beloved Aunt Sylvia Green, Devoted Cousins Lamarvin and Kamian Steele, Jackie Miller, Beloved Aunt Patsy Larremore , Niece Zarah Danage, Nephew Jalen Davis, Niece Sydni Davis, Goddaughter Nyla “Munchkin” King, and other beloved blended brothers and sisters and a host of family and friends.
