Ruby Jewell Duncan was welcomed into the word by both parents, Mr. Luther Taylor and Mrs. Ruby Lee Duncan, on June 12, 1971 in Dallas, Texas. This was the beginning of a lifetime of love.
Being the youngest of six, Ruby was very sheltered and protected. As a preteen leading into her teenage years, Ruby was deeply involved in a community Christian program called “Young Life,” which is where she came to know the Lord as her personal Savior. Ruby received a very good education from Dallas Independent School District. She participated in the ROTC program and graduated from L. G. Pinkston High School in 1990. Ruby had a passion for reading. She could read novel after novel. Ruby entered the workforce right after graduating high school. She was a dedicated hard worker. Ruby became General Manager for K. F. C. restaurants for several years. She also worked for the United States Postal Services for many years and was employed by Lowes for the past 6 years.
Ruby was a wonderful mother to her two children, LaSandra and Malik Duncan. In April 2006, Ruby met the love of her life, John Wesley Freeman. They fell in love and were united together forever in marriage.
On March 18, 2017, Ruby Jewell crossed over into eternity to rest in the arms of her heavenly father.
Ruby Jewell was preceded in death by her earthly father, Luther Taylor; her grandparents, Charlie and Vera Millage; her uncles, James Charles Millage, Billy Roy Millage, Henry Allen Millage; her great niece, Anayah Denae Duncan; and her niece she adored and shared precious times with, Laretha DeShun Ross.
Ruby leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter, LaSandra LaTarria Duncan; son, Malik Duncan; husband, John Wesley Freeman; grandchildren: Miracle Dejanae Duncan, Tyson Gibson, Jr., Damarrio Young, Jr., Nevaeh Young; mother, Ruby Lee Duncan; brother, Billy Roy Millage (Gloria); sisters, Vera Mae Allen (Darryl), Diane Reed, Brenda and Annie Faye Duncan; aunts and uncles, in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
