Samuel Ray Houston (Red) was born on August 24, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri to the parentage of the late Willie Mae Pipkins and Charles Houston.
He received his education from Manuel High School, Kansas City, Missouri. In 1977, Samuel moved to Dallas, Texas, along with his family. Sammie lived his life like no other, which included (boxing). He was caring, loving, family oriented, jovial, and he met no stranger. Even with him becoming ill, he didn’t let it change who he was.
Samuel R. Houston was a member of the Free Church Through Holiness under the leadership of the late Bishop Joel Wren. After the demise of Bishop Wren, Samuel later united with Faith Kingdom Church of God in Christ, Dallas, Texas, where the pastor is Superintendent Charles E. Craig.
On December 1, 2016, the Lord called one of his angel’s home. Samuel was proceeded in death by his brothers, Willie D. Garner, and four sisters, Geneva Cole, Linda Pipkins, Paulette Cole, and Marquita Houston.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Rosemary M. Houston; four sisters; two children, Xavier and Sylvia Houston of Kansas City, Missouri; Annouthanet Houston, Doris Cole, Adriene Gardner (sister-in-law), Criss, Anne Wren, Pealine Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
