Sgt. Willie Walter Smith (W. W.) was born on September 19, 1958, in Lauderdale Florence, AL to the parents of Percy Smith and Mildred Louise Pope.  He graduated from Buckhorn High School of New Market, Alabama and accepted Christ at an early age.

He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on June 6, 1980. He later retired from the City of Dallas.

He was preceded in death by both parents; his sister, Mildred Jean Smith, and his brother, Percy Smith, Jr.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Tenora Smith; a stepson, Keldrick Hamilton (Ketevious); two step-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Rebecca Ervin, Linda Faye Ervin, Mary Elizabeth Ann Jarvis (Ohio), Gloria Norton, stepsister, Bessie Woods (Huntsville, AL), nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.
