Sip Louis Jones was born in Frisco Texas to the parents of George and Susie ones on July 20, 1939. He attended school in McKinney, Texas and worked at Vernon Emory Construction as foreman for 30+ years.
He was a very kind man, young at heart with a sense of humor, a beautiful smile and a BIG heart for others. He took great pride in his appearance and practiced looking his very best wherever he went. He loved fashion and style and would coordinate colors, fabrics and patterns and if he wanted something special, he would go to his seamtress and have her design that look he so desired.
He was confident. He walked in integrity, strength and absolutely “loved” God, his wife and family. He will definitely be missed.
He had a special love for his mother, Susie Jones as well. He would often begin to weep just recalling the love she had for her family and the sacrifices she had made for not only her children but her grandchildren, James (Spike), Paul and Sara. When she became ill, he moved her into his home after taking an early retirement and cared for her himself until she passed at the age of 91. Although he could have hired help to assist with her care, he took great pride and joy in being able to serve his mother in this manner. And every year, whether she knew we were celebrating her birthday or not, he’d make sure the family gathered to celebrate HER on her special day. What a LEGACY he leaves!
After accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior over 28 years ago, he began working in the church and never looked back. He loved his church family and he had great compassion for children. He began his new life in Christ at Shiloh Church of God in Christ and remained there all 28 years where he proudly served as Finance Chairman until his health began to decline. Because he was so good with numbers, he would often complete many mathematical equations in his head before many could complete them on paper.
Most of all, he was true giver. He took great joy in “being a blessing”. It didn’t matter if he was blessing someone he knew or not, he just loved giving! He knew that was one of his God given assignments and he walked in that gift well. Whether he taking groceries to a certain family or slipping money in your hand. He was going to be a blessing!
You would often hear him recite one of his favorite scriptures; 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, would humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Jones Sr, mother, Susie Jones; brothers; Louis Younger, George Jones Jr.; sisters Georgia Jones, Elizabeth Brown, Shirley Samples and his son, Steven Kirkum.
He leaves to cherish his lovely and dedicated wife of 51 years, Annie Jones, his sons; Don Jones(Sharon), Sean Jones (Mizz), and his daughters, Paula Lewis (Craig), Donna Harrison, Tangela Taylor (Edward) and Sandra Kirkum; his brother, Charles Jones (Wanda) and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He also fathered John Moore and Tammy Moore.
