Tony Joe Jackson was born on October 20, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Antonio Jackson and Mattie Lee Jackson. He is the oldest of two sons.

Tony was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. He graduated from A. J. Moore High School in Waco, Texas in 1972. He then joined the Armed Forces, where he served from 1972 – 1975.

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Jackson of Chicago. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Ms. Mattie Boyd; brother, Ira Body, Jr.; son, Patrick Wates of Arizona; daughter, Latonya Mathis (Michael); grandchildren: O’c Beasley III, Tyrease Beasley, O’c Beasley IV (great grandson), and a host of relatives and friends.
