Mr. Vernon Wilson was born to the late Lessie Josephine Wilson and Vernon Sparks of Dallas, Texas on January 29, 1951. He was raised in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. He began an early career in Community Outreach Services working for The Dallas Urban League for many years and retiring in 2010. Even after retiring he still was an avid member of The Corinth AA Group Chapter in Dallas, Texas trying to show others the right way to go in life. Vernon was stylish, quick witted, spoke his mind, and always willing to lend a helping hand Soldier of Peace.

Vernon has 12 siblings, 9 of which preceded him in death: brothers, Lavon, Lafayette, Ben, Isaac, Henry, Harold, Jessie; sisters, Barbara and Shirley.

He is survived by brothers, Hollis and David Wilson; sister, Paula Lofton; the love of his life, Sheila Dedman, to whom he was inseparable until his death; one loving daughter, Danna Payne/Mincer (Carl); 3 grandkids, Aramis Payne, Ariell Payne, Erica Robin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
